一般情況下，產生壓力的設備都有電動機驅的，如空壓機、水泵等，電動機的運轉、停止將直接操動著壓力的有無大小。如要使壓力保持在一定范圍，不可能用人力控制電機的工作，此時采用GYD系列氣壓自動控制開關，不但實現了操作自動化，而且節省人力、節約了能源，同時延長了機器使用壽命。
這類開關不僅適用于空氣壓力的自動控制，也可適用于水壓的控制。兩樣加了一些附件后也可作為鍋爐自動報警，卸壓和自動加水等。因此開關可廣泛用于氣壓自動控制場合。
