優質人工藍寶石晶體材料在0.20~5.50μm波段內具有較好的透光性，紅外透過率幾乎不隨溫度變化，對紫外線、可見光的率也很高，常用來代替其它光學材料制作光學元件、透光學窗片，并被廣泛地應用于紅外及遠紅外裝備方面各種光學棱鏡、光學窗口、Uv和iR窗口及透鏡、低溫實驗的觀察口，在航海航天航空用儀器儀表等方面得到充分應用。
